For We Do Not Wrestle Against Flesh and Blood...
Do you ever feel like you are in a continual battle when it comes to self-discipline and healthy living? Some days you have victory and other days you just can't seem get it right?
This battle of surrendering your desires, cravings and self often becomes consuming and you begin to believe the lies that this war is a lost cause. Does it seem as if the war may never end and there will never be victory?
In every battle throughout history every commanding officer must recognize the battle that he is getting ready to go into and must have a plan of attack if there is any hope for victory. How often do we seem to be headed into a war-zone, yet do not have a clear mission and a plan of attack to win the battle?
Ephesians 6:12-13 says
"For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm."
As followers of Jesus we are in a full on supernatural war and our enemy is not out to only trip us up ... He is out to destroy us. We must recognize that we are in a battle. We know the end of the story, we win the war. But we still have a responsibility to do our part in the battle. We MUST have a plan if we are going to be victorious ... not only on this journey ... but in life as followers of Jesus!
